Back in the early 2000s, she was a guest on the David Letterman show, and Letterman made some really sexist and inappropriate jokes about her. He even went as far as to say that she was only famous because she’d “fooled around with a couple of black guys.” Berry was visibly uncomfortable and responded politely before quickly leaving the stage.
It was really disappointing to see someone like Letterman behave that way, and it was a clear example of the way that women are often treated in the entertainment industry. Male hosts can get away with making crude comments and sexist jokes, while female guests are often reduced to their looks or sex appeal. Berry is a talented actress and doesn’t deserve to be treated that way.
